I submitted my application for Western Governors university back in June. I got my application fee waived by asking someone to send me a referral which was great. about a day later an enrollment counselor called me and we began the enrollment process. Everything was going smooth up until financial aid came into play. My entrance loan counseling and master promissory note will not update. I was provisionally accepted, but needed the documents to be fully cleared and accepted. My Enrollment counselor slowly stopped calling me to check up on my process in getting the documents submitted. I had completed them and was not sure why they were not showing up. Months had passed so I figured that I had just not been accepted. I decided to go to Capella university which was one of the worst decisions of my life. while in the enrollment process with them, I discovered that the master promissory note and the loan counseling document had been submitted under my maiden name and not my married name. I continued with Capella and later withdrew and decided to try WGU again. I gave them a call and spoke with a new enrollment counselor. He was more than happy to help me! I explained the confusion and he pulled up my application. All of my financial aid documents transferred over and things were looking lovely. I received an email welcoming me to WGU and it gave me a heads up on orientation. My enrollment counselor informed me that all we were waiting on was an financial award letter. The next day I received an email from WGU's financial aid office. I thought to myself this is it! I clicked it and it said that I have loans on hold with another university and that my funds can't be released until this is cleared. I did an application with Strayer university but decided to change my mind after reading so many negative reviews. I immediately got on the phone and asked them what I needed to do to clear this up. I contacted Strayer and they emailed me over a form to sign and fax back. I handled that this morning and it takes 24- 48 hours to process in the COD system to clear the pending disbursements. All documents for WGU are needed to be turned in by the 22nd which is Monday! So, I'm really pressed for time. My next follow up call with WGU is Monday morning and, I'm hoping it's all clear by then so that I can start orientation!
See you Monday with update!
